PRIMA-BASED SERVICES INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Library UMS as one unit vision and mission support UMS as well as the central resource manager functions as a media source of information and educational services and teaching programs; research programs; community service programs of Islamic discourse and also as an alternative medium for recreation academic community. Therefore, the library served as a collector, processing and disseminating information center and always try to organize all the information he had so that each user can easily obtain the information it needs


Excellent service is a fast service, precise, easy, cheap and satisfying. To achieve this excellent service needed information technology tools which would facilitate the task of the librarian in serving the user.

The development of information and communication technology is so rapid automated human resources requires a reliable and able to anticipate and manage information based on information technology therefore iru librarians demanded to be more skilled and knowledgeable in the wider world of work in the library. This is because the library that in fact the center of the information management needs of human resources who are competent and able to manage increasing information quantity and good quality with a variety of media and information technology and modern communications.

In accordance with UMS library that is required to continue to develop ICT and human resources owned. Since 1994 the library UMS already pioneered the use of information technology for information processing, and since 2005 the increase of information technology-based services increasingly rapid development so that every service point is to use information technology. This is marked by the launch of digital services and the replacement of library automation programs with the existing automation programs more comprehensive and international standard.

Improved facilities and technology-based services this information will be useless without an increase in the quality of human resources, especially librarians as information managers. To manage and develop the digital libraries and library automation is certainly required human resources capable and competent in managing the information that will be served to the user. let alone the number of UMS library users who reached the figure of 20 thousand more, so that the services provided will also be optimized. Therefore, human resource development is also necessary to realize this program.

To realize the excellent service based on this information technology is not easy and cheap, but with a strong determination to advance the library program will run smoothly. UMS library example that since 2001 sd 2005 trying to get a grant from DIKTI new year 2006 succeeded in getting a grant PMP (Learning & Quality) finally able to start the program and with support from the university adds value to the library

The high interest in this leadership in developing library rector was evident in the development of infrastructure and the development of qualified human resources. Several things have been done in the development of libraries to the prime ministry of information technology based, among others: the launch of UMS digital library, the Library held a working meeting, execution continues with the stock opname use Koha automation programs with international and continued the installation and use of security gate, sending 3 person staff for follow-up study programs at UIN Yogyakarta S1, holding some training to develop quality human resources and send some staff to attend seminars and workshops are held outside of UMS
